Chapter 4
Accessory Tables
Guest Book Table
The Guest Book table is often your guests’ first glimpse of the Reception. Take this opportunity to make them feel welcome by displaying personal photos of the parents-in-law, siblings, pets, and grandparents so your guests can meet the family. Label the photos with names and relationships so family members can be recognized by all the guests. It would be a very nice idea to honor all your Producers by including their photos to
Hors d’oeuvres Table
At some weddings, Hors d’oeuvres are served before the wedding ceremony to greet and pamper guests. This is certainly a grand gesture but unnecessary. At other weddings, the Hors d’oeuvres are served immediately following the ceremony in an antechamber outside the dining room, which gives guests a chance to mingle until you are ready to invite them into the dining room. This tradition helps Guests avoid starvation while waiting for The Wedding Party to arrive after posing for formal photographs immediately after the ceremony. If there is any travel time between the Wedding Ceremony and Reception, serving Hors d’oeuvres while Guests wait (to be invited into the Dining Room) is especially thoughtful.
The Bar
A dinner bar serving liquor is not necessary if you provide Helpers for table beverage service and can afford to pour wine a number of times. If you are going to provide a bar in the dining room and the facility does not have a professional bar set-up, then a skirted table with table cloth will do nicely. Create a separate kit with duplicate contents for your bar during Hors d’oeuvres, if you elect to provide one.
