Chapter 5
TABLE ART
Table Art is like landscaping for your table. By artfully coordinating your table covers, table runners, centerpieces and candles you set the scene for the presentation of your place settings. No matter what shape tables you choose, thoughtful arrangement of these elements should set the stage for guests to be dazzled in every direction.
Coordinate the First Plate garnish elements, i.e. lettuces, herbs, fruit, etc. with the garnish from your Buffet and Fancy Butter Plates. Try to select something that is inexpensive and readily available to tie these presentations together. You will notice from the photographs that I use the same garnish elements on the Fancy Butter and First Plate.
Instruct Helpers to ask your Lead Set-Up Producer where to find the actual food, plates and accoutrements for the First Plate service. They (Helpers) should arrive at the reception facility having already had an Assembly Training Demonstration at their Role Play Training. But just in case, your Lead Set-Up Producer should plan to spend a few minutes making sure Helpers have a clear understanding of your First Plate and Place Setting designs. They need to know how to assemble the First Plate and place it exactly in the right spot on each Place Setting.

Napkin Rings
You can spend very little or go all out. For example, if you look at the napkin rings in the Asian Profile photo, I used a pricey black velvet gold-edged specialty ribbon. But you could also use an inexpensive 3 inch black floral ribbon with gold metallic ribbon glued to the edges and a red accent.
An Extravaganza doesn’t have to be expensive. The Extravagance is in the details that make your Guests feel pampered and entertained possibly amazed and always delighted!
You can use a hot glue gun for assembly of your napkin rings, but when time permits and if you can find someone willing (I do not sew at all), the ring itself can be run-up on a machine in no time. Then, “add on” details can be glued, thereby creating another lasting memento for Guests to take home. Just be sure to coordinate your Napkin Ring design with The Nut Cup, Favor Wrap, and Place Cards. |
